Our Design Process

This step-by-step process ensures a smooth and collaborative journey from initial concept to the realization of the client's dream project, with Designed for Life guiding them every step of the way.

1. Discovery Call

We start with a short phone or video call to learn about your project, goals, and timeline. This is where we confirm scope, answer initial questions, and make sure we are the right fit for your project.

2. Site Visit / Information Gathering

When required, we visit the property to review site conditions, take notes, gather measurements, and discuss your ideas in more detail. For some smaller projects, a virtual review or client-supplied information may be sufficient.

3. Preliminary Design

We develop the first draft of your plans based on your needs, zoning considerations, and site constraints. You’ll receive layouts, elevations, and an early look at how the design functions and feels.

4. Revisions & Refinements

You review the preliminary plans and provide feedback. We then refine the design — adjusting layouts, elevations, openings, and structural considerations — until the drawings align with your vision and are ready for permit preparation.

5. Permit-Ready Drawing Package

Once the design is approved, we prepare the full permit-ready drawing set. We coordinate with engineers when required and ensure the package is clear, complete, and compliant with Ontario Building Code and municipal requirements.

We remain available for clarifications during the build.
